Weight restrictions imposed on Bridge 11 at Wayne

Bridge inspections this week indicated that the bridge has deteriorated substantially over the last two years and  the bridge rating (the weight that can go over the bridge) has been reduced and the maximum weight that can cross this structure is now 3 tonnes. This is a significant downgrade for this structure as most of the bridges can handle 16-24 tonnes. We will be putting up signage and contacting the school bus operator that travels this route to inform them a route change is required immediately.

Bridge 11 is on the capital budget list for replacement, pending grant funding. The town has applied for a STIP (Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program) grant to repair the bridge the last two years and will do so again this year. The town will also be applying for Disaster Recovery Program funding for this project.
