Aquaplex Closure Update Nov 30th

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 30 2018

The repair work to the pool has been completed. The contractor has poured the concrete slurry under the damaged drain and the damage to the drain has been repaired.

As outlined in an earlier release, one of the drain structures at the deep end of the pool had a wide split on the side, which water was leaking through. It was found that the crack had been caused by the drain slumping due to a loss of support underneath.

"Pool staff will be cleaning the pool over the weekend. They will also leave some water in the pool to test the repair," explained Julia Fielding Communications Officer of the town of Drumheller. "If there is no leak they will begin filling the pool."

"We are aiming to open the pool at the beginning of the week of 10th December if all goes well." added Darren Goldthorpe Manager of Recreation, Arts and Culture. "Thank you for your patience, staff are working hard to get the pool open as soon as possible."
