Changes in funding for Criminal Record Checks and community Photocopying

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date January 18 2019

The Town of Drumheller will no longer be funding volunteer criminal record checks or photocopying for not for profit organizations. As such organizations will need to find alternate funding for these activities.

"As part of our annual budget review we look to ensure that we allocate our resources effectively," outlined April Harrison FCSS Coordinator. "Consequently, the decision was taken to cease both the community photocopying and criminal record check program effective January 1, 2019."

"We recognize that this will come as a disappointment to the many organizations that have utilized these programs over the years" added Darryl Drohomerski CAO of the Town of Drumheller. "The decision was not taken lightly."

The funding previously allocated to these programs will be redirected towards priority areas such as out of school youth programming, poverty reduction/alleviation initiatives and the Community Counselling Program, many of which were identified in the social needs assessment completed in 2017.
