Downtown Revitalization Project - Phase One

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 9, 2018

The creation of the temporary downtown plaza and street patio areas will begin over the next two weeks.

"The biggest piece of feedback received during the visioning exercise for downtown was to create more public gathering spaces and areas for the public to spend time downtown and this pilot aims to do just that." explained Darryl Drohomerski CAO of the Town of Drumheller. "It is the first part of achieving the vision presented earlier this year".

"There will be planters installed at the intersection of Centre Street and the north side of 3rd Ave to create a plaza/gathering area, which will include a small cabin," explained Armia Mikhaiel, Director of Infrastructure. "There will also be patio areas placed on 3rd Ave in front of 3rd Avenue Arts."

The project will affect traffic flow: There will be no traffic down Centre Street from 3rd Ave to the alley located beside the Legion.

The first phase of the Downtown Revitalization Project will begin at the end of this week with Infrastructure Services and the Drumheller Penitentiary, and work is expected to be completed by July 12th, 2018. Please watch out for crews as they carry out this work.

NOTES:
