Trail of Trees lights up the Badlands Community Facility with the Family Fun Committee!

The Town of Drumheller, the Badlands Community Facility and Family Fun Committee invite you to celebrate the magic of the holiday season and the spirit of giving with us. Between November 30th and Dec 16th the Badlands Community Facility will be decking it's halls with beautiful Christmas trees, turning the community facility into a magical Christmas dreamland.

The Town of Drumheller invites businesses, community organisations and families to donate and decorate an artificial Christmas tree which will be displayed in the Trail of Trees at the Badlands Community Facility. This year, we will host a silent auction for the trees, with the proceeds going to JumpStart. The community has identified that youth programs, transportation and equipment can be expensive. So this year, we give back to the youth!

The event will be launched on Friday November 30th with a fun community event with people checking out the trees, carollers singing and hot chocolate and cookies. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will also be making a special trip from the North Pole! Family Fun Committee, FCSS and The Drumheller Public Library will be setting up some fun things to in the Library and Multipurpose Rooms. Tricia Hatch School of Dance will also be putting on a special performance in our lower lobby!

Why should you take part?

  • This is a wonderful opportunity for businesses and organisations to promote themselves to the 300+ people a day going through the BCF.
  • Your business/group/self will be recognised as a business with a great community spirit as they give to those most in need this holiday season.
  • Proceeds from the Tree Auction go toward Canadian Tire JumpStart program that will help supplement youth in recreation programs
  • The cost of a tree and the decorations offers great value for money; creating a greater return than traditional advertising
  • Fun, friendly competition among the community

Your role in the program:

  • Contact Erica Crocker at the Badlands Community Facility to register your spot or sign up online (below)
  • Donate a tree, bring it to the BCF and decorate it on Friday November 30th from 10:00AM – 7:00PM.
  • Your decorations can link with your business or be more of the traditional decorations or a mixture of the 2. If you would rather keep your decorated tree, that is fine too!

We will:

  • Promote the event and highlight all the businesses and organisations which take part in this great program
  • Create labels for each tree stating the company who donated it
  • To provide all the power needed to run lights
  • Run a silent auction for the 18 days the trees are up, with all proceeds going to Drumheller Canadian Tire's Jumpstart Program, to assist families with youth in need!
  • Have an evening with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus on December 1st from 5:00PM – 7:00PM, as well as complimentary snacks
  • Offer a confidential platform to families in need of a Christmas tree to ensure they have one this year

"This event has proven very successful in other communities, so we wanted to do something similar. The Town of Drumheller is very excited to put their own flare into this festive initiative." says Darren Goldthorpe Manager of Arts Culture and Recreation. "We had so much success last year; we hope to keep this a running tradition for years to come."
